New Baby Blanket.
Maybe if I make another one, I will change up the center or use varigated yarn.
Here are the first couple of rounds of it. I'm not sure how big I am going to make it. We will see as it progresses.

Preemie Burial Romper
This second picture is the back. I don't see why it has to be a burial romper. Why couldn't a preemie wear this any time? Maybe there's something I don't know.
I was supposed to put snaps or velcro on the back and at the bottom of the crotch, but instead I laced some ribbon on the back that could tie and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the crotch, I just think snaps or velcro would be bad for a preemie. At least if the child were still alive and wearing the outfit.
Preemie Burial Pouch
As I made it, I realized it was just a single granny square (12 rows) with a half granny square attached and I thought of the poor preemie babies that are so tiny. I chose to put a blue ribbon on this one.
Once the baby is placed inside the ribbon is tied up like so. It's really sad to think about, but I think it would be nice to have something like this to wrap your baby in for burial.
I also have a pattern for a preemie burial gown and a preemie burial romper for boys. I think I am going to give those a shot as well. I'm not sure when though.

Market bag...
Ok, I got bored outlining stuff and was itching to work on some other things last night so I looked for some quick patterns that I could make up in a night or so. I had wanted to try making a market bag to see what it would look like. We don't want to bring home anymore paper or plastic bags from the store, so I told Sean I would make some up and that I had a pattern for one.
Here it is. It's a lot more narrow than I thought it would be. I think I can tweak the pattern to make it a more appropriate size for our shopping needs. It was very easy to make and did make up very quickly.

Time for the outlining...
I'm getting there. I completed the last bear on the blanket and now I just need to go back and outline everything. Looks like I am on target so far for Ethanael's first birthday. Unfortunately, all my other projects have been on standstill while I work on this one. I've been dying to switch off but I've been good so far.

Where I am at now...
Throughout the day, I worked on filling in the teddy bear and that's what he looks like completed.
This is what the whole blanket looks like now and below is the last part that needs to be cross stitched before I start the outlining. Hopefully, I can get some work done on that tomorrow.

What I am working on now.
This is the center part of Ethanael's blanket. Since the kids aren't coming for Easter, I have gone back to my deadline in May when he turns a year old.
I'm hoping to have this done by Sunday. I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to even work on it today.
After this I have one more teddy bear to cross stitch.

Ethanael's Blanket
In this particular segment of the blanket, I still have to complete the blanket that the teddy bear is sleeping on and the teddy bear and above that the rack for the mobile. Once that has been completed, I have one last teddy bear to cross stitch in the upper right corner and then I start the process of outlining the entire thing. I hope it wasn't a mistake saving the outlining for last.
After that has been completed. I have to purchase a backing for the blanket and I've already purchased the filling for it. Then it's just a matter of sewing it all together. Which, BTW, I do not know how to sew. Should be fun.
I've been thinking about looking for an area on it that might fit his name and DOB. I'd like to embroider it on there. Of course, I don't know how to do that either. I don't know why I take on such ambitious projects for my first ones. Probably because I don't know any better.

Flowers...
Ok, so I think this baby blanket is coming along nicely. I'm working on various stages of the granny squares. For some reason, I just don't want to sit down and do a whole square all at once. I like to work them by color.
I've completed some squares but I still have a long way to go. I still think things are coming along nicely with this project.
Standstill...

More Progress
I've started to work on the baby blanket that goes with the bonnet and booties. Here are some of the grannie squares I've completed. The little yellow and pink star like things are the popcorn flowers that go in the middle. For some reason instead of doing the whole square at once, I like to do stages.
I really like the way these squares are turning out. My gauge is good and I seem to have this pat down. I'm definitely going to redo the bonnet. I sort of like the popcorn technique.
I've done some work on the Care Bear blanket but haven't taken any pictures of it. Ethanael's blanket still awaits my return...
Progress...
This picture down here is of my third attempt at adding the new ball of yarn. I had to pull the sucker out and restart. It was beyond frustrating and I had a few choice words about knitting in general. I guess when you're teaching yourself out of a crappy book, you get what you pay for. Although, I bought a new book that's pretty cool. It actually has real pictures, hence the job I'm showing below.
I had ran into a problem of having a segment of yarn that was loose and didn't seem to be in the right space, which is the reason why I pulled it out to begin with. I just did a little secret something to make it disappear and I am going on my way like nothing's wrong. Since it doesn't look like it anymore. If it happens again, I'm going to take a picture so maybe some one out there can tell me what I am doing wrong.
At least I hope that's right being as I don't have any other examples. In the midst of my frustration, Sean told me to just pull the whole thing out and crochet it.
I didn't even look at him. Only I could suggest and do such a thing, not him. lol I'm worried I didn't buy enough yarn. At least it's not dye lotted or anything.

Here's what is in my basket.
I love this basket to keep all my supplies in. I also have a case to keep my threads for cross stitching and a bag that is currently holding all my care bear blanket supplies in it. Maybe I'll take a picture of those things and add it to this post.
But there are some of my yarns and thread, oh and some angels that I need to complete.
Fun, fun, fun...
Care Bear Blanket
This is my care bear blanket. It's a cross between crochet and cross stitch. It is my most recent project and I was going at it full force until the whole situation with the kids came about. I haven't worked on it since then. I guess that's nearly two months ago. It still needs the rest of the bear and the border on it. I'm happy with the way it's going so far.
Hub's Scarf
This is my attempt at teaching myself to knit. Just the basics. I had actually knitted the entire skein when I realized that I needed to leave some length of yarn in order to add the second skein and I couldn't figure out how to pull it back without losing the stitches. So I pulled it all out and started over again. This time I am making it wider. Unfortunately for Hubs, he was devastated when I pulled it out because he saw a new scarf in his near future. lol
Sorry Hubs... maybe next winter??
My next oldest object...
I thought this crocheted layette set was really cute. I also wanted to learn the popcorn stitch. There's a blanket that goes to it too. I haven't started making the squares for it yet. There are 96 yellow squares and 96 pink ones needed to make it. I'm thinking that might take me awhile.
I'm not too happy with the bonnet. I was happy when I completed it because it was the first bonnet I ever made. BUT.... After I really looked at it. I think my gauge is too tight or something and I'm not too happy with the way things came together. This might end up being some clothes for the kids dolls or something. I think I might need to make a new one.
I'm actually not too happy with these either. These are my first booties I've ever made. I found out that I missed a couple of rounds in the first bootie I made so I need to figure out if it's worth pulling it back and trying to fix or whether I should just make a whole new bootie. I thought it was tiny when I had finished it but I hadn't seen any booties recently so I didn't know.
This object isn't nearly as old as Ethanael's blanket.
New Blog...
With that said, I will start with the oldest project that is still in progress.
My Godson Ethanael's blanket.
Ethanael was born last May. My goal is to complete it by his first birthday. lol
When I bought the blanket and the threads, I had no idea what I was getting into. I thought it was adorable.
There are various teddy bears through out. One in each corner and one in the center on the moon.
The words on the blanket say "I see the moon", "The moon sees me", "God Bless the Moon", "God Bless Me."
After I get the cross stitch done. I have to figure out how to do the rest. I have the filling stuff, can't remember what it's called right now and I just need to buy a backing for it. I'm thinking of putting a blue, baby blue, flannel backing to it. I don't know if that would work yet. We'll see as it comes along.
